Another Health Update: Diabetes Appointment

So my diabetic appointment was this past Thursday. I failed to update all of you sooner because I had to be at work on Friday at about 10:00 am and then today was a 9:00 am start. At any rate, the appointment was a rather long wait. It was scheduled to be at about 11:00 am, but the doctor was running about 20 minutes behind. That meant I was probably looking at about 11:20 at the earliest, but that didn’t happen! I didn’t get called back until roughly noon. Then I finally saw him about 12:15. I was still a bit nervous, but my blood pressure had stabilized and was at 122/88. That’s good for a diabetic. I’ve been told that for a diabetic the ideal is 130/90. They also took my Hb1Ac. It was 7.0% and again I’ve been told for a diabetic we shoot for 7.0% or lower. Once more good news! My blood sugar/glucose was at 128 mg/dl. Again awesome considering I had eaten roughly 2 hours prior to the appointment and I shoot for my blood sugar/glucose to be around 140 mg/dl or lower. So far things were looking awesome! My weight was not so great, though. šŸ˜¦ Unfortunately, I weighed in at about 180 pounds. šŸ˜„ So sad! I was hoping it would be lower, but I guess since I messed around with my birth control pills (yeah, I know that’s morally wrong I guess) last month and my body’s still not happy with me for doing so AND that decided to have about a glass of water before my appointment all that made my weight go upwards! The nurses also gave me a flu shot that day. So now I’m protected from this season’s influenza outbreak. šŸ™‚ Now came the fun part…waiting for the doctor to show up. I didn’t have to wait too long. When he finally came in he told me, “I have some excellent news for you!” I was about to fall out of my chair!Ā Yay! Good news IĀ love good news! He told me my LDL cholesterol (that’s the “bad” cholesterol mind you) is finally under 100! As a matter of fact it is 88. That is the lowest I’ve had my cholesterol in…well, probably forever! I have chronically high cholesterol and it’s always a good thing to hear when it is finally on the decline for the “bad” cholesterol and my HDL (or “good” cholesterol) to be on the rise. I think things are finally starting to turn around for the better as far as my health is concerned and am really eager to work harder on all of this! I will be back in this office again roughly one week from Christmas. šŸ˜

Well, unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) that’s all I have for tonight’s entry. I’ll try to get back to writing again soon (let’s shoot for Monday).

Love and prayers, as always! ā¤

About Christy

I enjoy: my family, my faith life, photography, drawing; writing, working on cars, basketball, football, and baseball. These are just a few of the many things I like...you'll just have to read my blog to know me better to know more of them. Other things you may not catch on that I enjoy are: cats, angels, ballroom dancing, Christian music, camping (being one with nature and all of God's creations), traveling, cherry and apple blossoms, and the colors blue (in all shades), white, black, dark purple, and SOME shades of pink. (Rainbows are cool, too. And I'm NOT a lesbian! Although, I'm friends with some gays and lesbians as well as a few transgenders.) I am Roman Catholic. I graduated from Johnson County Community College, where I majored in Animation in hopes of fulfilling my dreams of being a computer generated animation movie maker. I also have a degree in Corporate Communication from Avila University. I'm currently employed at Nestle Toll House/Haagen-Dazs (at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park), I own my own business -- C & S Productions, L.L.C. (check it out at http://www.csproductionsllc.com), and am single. My favorite time of year is Winter and the Christmas season! It's just so...well, I can't put it into words. ^_^ Lastly, I am 37 years young!
