Leaders Don’t Cry

I can’t believe I said that today as I left for work to cover a shift for someone. As I was leaving, Mom told me I should have packed some tissues. I replied only, “It’s okay; leaders don’t cry.” I can’t believe I said that! Leaders DO cry; we’re only human!

Leaders feel all emotions. We are sad, angry, happy, joyful. We feel all emotions; the only thing is we usually refuse to show the negative emotions when surrounded by the public or our followers. I’m not sure why; I guess because people think leaders are not supposed to be anything but strong.

The next time someone tells you or you think, “Leaders don’t cry!” ask why. I’m sure you’ll soon see that it’s just not accepted and people think of leaders as all-powerful. I think that’s what’s wrong in today’s world. If you are going to be a leader you have to not feel any negative emotions by today’s society.

I’m changing that; starting with my family and work. How I lead in both places. We’re only human and because we’re human we feel a wide range of emotions. So I may not always be strong; I’m going to cry sometimes and feel week. That’s okay. I’m going have days where I’d rather be home and not feeling good, but you know what? We all feel like that from time to time. It’s okay to not be happy and joyful all the time. It’s okay. We’re only human.

Yes, leaders DO cry!

Love and prayers!

About Christy

I enjoy: my family, my faith life, photography, drawing; writing, working on cars, basketball, football, and baseball. These are just a few of the many things I like...you'll just have to read my blog to know me better to know more of them. Other things you may not catch on that I enjoy are: cats, angels, ballroom dancing, Christian music, camping (being one with nature and all of God's creations), traveling, cherry and apple blossoms, and the colors blue (in all shades), white, black, dark purple, and SOME shades of pink. (Rainbows are cool, too. And I'm NOT a lesbian! Although, I'm friends with some gays and lesbians as well as a few transgenders.) I am Roman Catholic. I graduated from Johnson County Community College, where I majored in Animation in hopes of fulfilling my dreams of being a computer generated animation movie maker. I also have a degree in Corporate Communication from Avila University. I'm currently employed at Nestle Toll House/Haagen-Dazs (at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park), I own my own business -- C & S Productions, L.L.C. (check it out at http://www.csproductionsllc.com), and am single. My favorite time of year is Winter and the Christmas season! It's just so...well, I can't put it into words. ^_^ Lastly, I am 36 years young!
