Leadership 201

I feel I’ve graduated from Leadership 101 and am now working on Leadership 201. šŸ˜€ I don’t know how to say it but over the course of these past few days I’ve felt myself growing in leading and learning a lot about leadership. It’s not easy to even put into words, but I guess I should try.

So over the course of this week, I decided everyone in my family was joining the fitness center (whether they liked it or not) and I was paying. I was trying to show this is going to be great and we’re going to have fun! I also recognized that there was some growing in my leadership at work.

Over the course of this week at work, I was more than just trying to maintain composure as a customer threw a fit over the fact I supposedly charged for the wrong ice cream. He wanted a single scoop, but pointed to our two scoop cup. It took all the strength I had that day not to chuck that ice cream in his face. I guess being a leader, as I’ve learned, means also knowing when to stay calm and when to raise heck (putting it politely).

I also have been watching what it means to be a leader through watching a let’s play of Bioshock 2 (if you don’t know what it’s about please research it yourself as I don’t want to devote this part of the entry to explaining it, sorry). As the main character you can decided whether or not to allow people to survive or die. I won’t get into it much, but I will say that watching the “best ending” as it were, I am glad that this character is able to show me that being a leader means (usually) not exacting your revenge on someone despite how cruel they may have treated you in the past. This is an amazing revelation to me and very eye-opening.

I guess I’m ready to graduate now onto Leadership 201. I wonder what knew things I’ll learn now! šŸ™‚

Love and prayers!

About Christy

I enjoy: my family, my faith life, photography, drawing; writing, working on cars, basketball, football, and baseball. These are just a few of the many things I like...you'll just have to read my blog to know me better to know more of them. Other things you may not catch on that I enjoy are: cats, angels, ballroom dancing, Christian music, camping (being one with nature and all of God's creations), traveling, cherry and apple blossoms, and the colors blue (in all shades), white, black, dark purple, and SOME shades of pink. (Rainbows are cool, too. And I'm NOT a lesbian! Although, I'm friends with some gays and lesbians as well as a few transgenders.) I am Roman Catholic. I graduated from Johnson County Community College, where I majored in Animation in hopes of fulfilling my dreams of being a computer generated animation movie maker. I also have a degree in Corporate Communication from Avila University. I'm currently employed at Nestle Toll House/Haagen-Dazs (at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park), I own my own business -- C & S Productions, L.L.C. (check it out at http://www.csproductionsllc.com), and am single. My favorite time of year is Winter and the Christmas season! It's just so...well, I can't put it into words. ^_^ Lastly, I am 36 years young!
