Always Something to Learn

I went to my appointment Wednesday. I was a nervous wreck and it didn’t help I was cut off by a driver TWICE and making me also angry/stressed. Eventually, I was checked in and waited for my turn to go back. I prayed I didn’t need an elevator; thanks be to God, no elevator was needed.

After I calmed down and listened intently and with an open mind to the nutritionist, I discovered there was some things that I didn’t know about diabetes before. One of the main things I learned was that if you build muscles the blood sugar will be used more for toning them than being elevated in the form of the measurable blood sugar when I prick my finger. I’m sure I’m wording this awkwardly, but that the gist of it and I’m determined to make that my goal: to do something elliptical (as the nutritionist put it) on the days I don’t go for a walk. I also learned that peas are considered protein foods and not veggies like I thought. Why? Because peas are practically beans and beans are legumes; legumes are protein buddies/foods. 😀 That’s so cool!!! Also I learned that I should be drinking about 8 oz of milk (preferably skim, which is fine because that’s what I drink anyway) and having 3 servings of carbs every meal (that is 45 grams total); I should even have veggies and meat (or meat substitutes) at every meal. Veggies are free foods, meaning they don’t limit how many/much I eat.

I also learned a lot about modeling today. I learned how to model using bézier curves. Not my best modeling, but it was a learning experience. I learned if you want models all level not to mess with the Z-axis. 😉

Anyway, not much else I feel like reporting tonight and I’ll write again Saturday!

Love and prayers!

About Christy

I enjoy: my family, my faith life, photography, drawing; writing, working on cars, basketball, football, and baseball. These are just a few of the many things I like...you'll just have to read my blog to know me better to know more of them. Other things you may not catch on that I enjoy are: cats, angels, ballroom dancing, Christian music, camping (being one with nature and all of God's creations), traveling, cherry and apple blossoms, and the colors blue (in all shades), white, black, dark purple, and SOME shades of pink. (Rainbows are cool, too. And I'm NOT a lesbian! Although, I'm friends with some gays and lesbians as well as a few transgenders.) I am Roman Catholic. I graduated from Johnson County Community College, where I majored in Animation in hopes of fulfilling my dreams of being a computer generated animation movie maker. I also have a degree in Corporate Communication from Avila University. I'm currently employed at Nestle Toll House/Haagen-Dazs (at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park), I own my own business -- C & S Productions, L.L.C. (check it out at http://www.csproductionsllc.com), and am single. My favorite time of year is Winter and the Christmas season! It's just so...well, I can't put it into words. ^_^ Lastly, I am 36 years young!

Wow, I never knew that having muscle mass could assist in lowering blood sugar levels! I’ll have to look into that one!

Well, that’s what it sounded like from my nutritionist the other day. She said it’s because we aren’t carrying the extra glucose in our bellies and instead are using it to help form muscles. 😀 Couldn’t hurt right?
