Labor Day Has New Meaning

Think of me this coming Monday while you celebrate Labor Day (if you are in the United States). While you are all enjoying your time off and buying all kinds of cool gizmos and gadgets during the multitude sales nationwide, I will be working. Yes, I have to work ALL of Labor Day (well most of it anyway). I will be working from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm. I’m working both of my jobs (Nestle and Yankee Candle) back to back. It won’t be fun, but it’s something I guess I’ll have to do. Ah the joys of living in America and working in retail! šŸ˜„ Yes, that was sarcasm.

If I didn’t have to work, I wouldn’t. Why do we do this to so many people just so we can enjoy some time with family? Not everyone gets to enjoy holidays. Like I said, I’m probably going to even be forced to work Thanksgiving night into Black Friday this year again, but even earlier (probably around 4:30 pm).Ā This will even be the start of a very busy and stressful week. Starting Monday and running at least ’til next Saturday evening (late eveningĀ mind you), I will be working. I’ll be working so much I hardly believe that there will be any family time in there. Sigh, this is why I need out of retail so badly.

If you are in the area this next week, I’d appreciate a friendly smile or hug, etc. just to help make it through the week and know that I’m not alone, that someone does care about me.

Until then, I’m trying to enjoy what little time I have left with my family and myself ’til my next break (and the next entry).

Love and prayers (that I survive this ridiculousness)!

About Christy

I enjoy: my family, my faith life, photography, drawing; writing, working on cars, basketball, football, and baseball. These are just a few of the many things I'll just have to read my blog to know me better to know more of them. Other things you may not catch on that I enjoy are: cats, angels, ballroom dancing, Christian music, camping (being one with nature and all of God's creations), traveling, cherry and apple blossoms, and the colors blue (in all shades), white, black, dark purple, and SOME shades of pink. (Rainbows are cool, too. And I'm NOT a lesbian! Although, I'm friends with some gays and lesbians as well as a few transgenders.) I am Roman Catholic. I graduated from Johnson County Community College, where I majored in Animation in hopes of fulfilling my dreams of being a computer generated animation movie maker. I also have a degree in Corporate Communication from Avila University. I'm currently employed at Nestle Toll House/Haagen-Dazs (at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park), I own my own business -- C & S Productions, L.L.C. (check it out at, and am single. My favorite time of year is Winter and the Christmas season! It's just so...well, I can't put it into words. ^_^ Lastly, I am 36 years young!
