Well, Lent is officially here. I never made it to Mass today, but I know the readings (I always try to read the readings before attending Mass for Sunday — or in my case Saturday evening, Sunday vigil — or any holy day I intend to attend or will attend. At any rate, I prayed long and hard about my fasting this Lent and here’s what I came up with: I will fast/abstain from Pintrest. This is going to be very hard as I’ve grown addicted to it and am on it so many times throughout the day and well into the evening. The only way I will see Pintrest is through my email with my notifications, but I will NOT go to the site itself.
Anyway, so my blessing today was my phone call from my “Healthy Companion” nurse who calls me every 6 months or so to check in on me in case I have any questions or concerns about health, etc. She told me just how proud of me she is and that she doesn’t think I’ll be needing her as much any more. While I’ll admit I’m disappointed I can’t confide in someone about my health that understands or can give me a more down to earth explanation or speak in layman’s terms about the medical diagnoses, etc. I’m glad to know that this means I am finally going to be able to do things on my own and get somewhere I never dreamed was possible! I think one of the last times I’ll be talking to her will be around September.
Sorry I’m not writing much about Ash Wednesday itself, but I’m sure I’ve talked about it at great length elsewhere — if not I’m sure you can find several articles about it on the internet. Until then, I hope your Lent is off to a fabulous start!
God, bless every one of us!
