That’s right! Sleep! 😀 I managed to sleep through the night last night. I don’t think I woke up even once — if I did then I went right back to sleep. I sure hope I can do the same tonight. So in case you couldn’t tell sleep was my blessing into today.
On a side note, lots has been happening in my personal life that I really haven’t written about and with good cause. As I may have said before, I do like to keep some of my personal life — well, for lack of a better word — personal! But I’d like to share a little today/tonight because it’s still bugging me.
I received an alumni email from my university alma mater the other day. In it was mostly information that you expect to get, i.e., how much money was raised at the annual fundraiser, new grounds being broken, etc. Then came a shocker. One of my all time favorite professors, who taught me 3 classes (at least) of history, had passed away last month. When I was writing about my very good friend Micah, I should have been thinking about her. That was when she entered eternal life. She was young, too! She was only 65 (about 2 years younger than Mom)! 😯 I still remember her calling herself “Mother” when she addressed herself in my first history class with her. She loved sports, too. Oh I mention her at great length in my second part of my autobiography (which is still a work in progress)! I can’t wait to hopefully publish it and then everyone will get to know her. She is “The Other, Other S Word.” Her name was (Doctor) Sherry Schirmer or as I said earlier, how she referred to herself, “Mother Schirmer.” I suppose you could say she’s my other blessing today.
It’s just so much to bear. I can’t get over it and if only I had known, I could have attended her funeral. 😦 Oh so sad. I just have no words for it any more. Sigh! Well, guess, I’d better try to get some sleep!
God, bless every one of us (especially Dr. Schirmer’s family)!
