“Focus, focus!” Those were the words uttered by my new optometrist this afternoon when I went to get my eyes tested. I was supposed to focus my eyes solely on the tip of his ball point pen and then at the very instant I could see is fingers come into the frame of my vision tell him how many fingers he was holding up. This repeated three times and each time I failed horribly. I could not stay focused on the pen tip. My eyes wandered about the room and especially on his fingers. Finally, he gave up. It was not going to work. It was then that he determined the muscles in my eyes just aren’t strong enough to keep my eyes focused on any one thing in particular. Seems to be the story of my life. I can’t seem to stay focused on any one particular thing for very long before shifting my attention to something else. At any rate, now that I finished that part of the exam the next part (which I have to find a time to schedule it) is to get my eyes dilated and to get the field of vision test done. Not sure yet when I’ll plan for that, but it will be sometime soon (like within the next two weeks or less). I just want to have my new glasses so I can read again. Although, the optometrist claims that my eyesight really hasn’t changed that much, but it sure feels like it to me. Oh well, hopefully I will have my new glasses in time for my new job (and hopefully she’ll call me back soon so we can arrange to fill out my paperwork). Until then, I’ll just keep busy and try to focus on other things.
God, bless us — everyone!
