All Snowed in and Nowhere to Go

Yup, it’s another snow day here in good, old Overland Park, Kansas! šŸ˜€ I’m actually kind of happy now that the snow has tapered off and for the most part looks fairly good (for a snow day) out there. The plows have come by on the street facing our house at least twice now. Not sure how the street facing our driveway is, but at last look it wasn’t so good. My joints are still sore (especially my left hand today), but it’s getting better with each passing minute.

There are about 300 people/households/businesses in my ZIP Code without power right now. As of right now we’re good. The lights have flickered more than once here, but we’re fine. Even if things go down we’re good as we have a generator. The problem would be trying to get it to some place clear and all powered up, but I’m sure we would manage.

I’m not looking forward to shoveling this snow as it’s a more watery snow than before which means it will be heavy and I’m not very strong (and it hurts your back and joints if you do it wrong)! I’ll try to get out there and shovel sometime either tomorrow or the next day. Not really wanting to even think about it yet.

Lately there have been numerous school and work closings (yes, the mall where I work was closed again by this second snow storm). All the schools I used to attend were closed today, too. I am happy to know that at least if I was still in attendance at these schools I wouldn’t have been forced to risk life and limb to be there today.

Very few people, cars, etc. are out on the roads and that’s good. With fewer people on the road and trying to get places that means (usually) fewer deaths and/or injuries.

Well, not much else to report at the moment. I haven’t gone out at all and I don’t intend to for a while (so no pictures yet). So anyone who lives in the Kansas City Metro area, please don’t go outside unless it’s a dire emergency! Stay in where it’s warm and safe!

God, bless us — everyone!

About Christy

I enjoy: my family, my faith life, photography, drawing; writing, working on cars, basketball, football, and baseball. These are just a few of the many things I'll just have to read my blog to know me better to know more of them. Other things you may not catch on that I enjoy are: cats, angels, ballroom dancing, Christian music, camping (being one with nature and all of God's creations), traveling, cherry and apple blossoms, and the colors blue (in all shades), white, black, dark purple, and SOME shades of pink. (Rainbows are cool, too. And I'm NOT a lesbian! Although, I'm friends with some gays and lesbians as well as a few transgenders.) I am Roman Catholic. I graduated from Johnson County Community College, where I majored in Animation in hopes of fulfilling my dreams of being a computer generated animation movie maker. I also have a degree in Corporate Communication from Avila University. I'm currently employed at Nestle Toll House/Haagen-Dazs (at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park), I own my own business -- C & S Productions, L.L.C. (check it out at, and am single. My favorite time of year is Winter and the Christmas season! It's just so...well, I can't put it into words. ^_^ Lastly, I am 36 years young!
