Singing My Way Through Today

For me a day isn’t complete unless I’ve sung at least part of at least one song, maybe two some days. Today, I had the privilege of singing two. Somehow or other my co-worker (I’ll call her “Thelma”) had just stepped out of the back of the store and said “Oh good grief, Charlie Brown!” I smiled and chimed in (sort of singing) “He’s a clown, that Charlie Brown.” Thelma said, “Right, right!” Then we just started singing and swing dancing to the song Charlie Brown by The Coasters. For those of you who don’t know it, here’s probably the most popular part:

Who walks in the classroom cool and slow?
Who calls the English teacher Daddy-O?
Charlie Brown, Charlie Brown
He’s a clown, that Charlie Brown
He’s gonna get caught, just you wait and see
(Why’s everybody always pickin’ on me?)

Then after work, I was walking out of the auto parts store with Steven and all he said was that “we should be heading home; it’s late.” Now any other person would just take that at face value, but I burst into another old song. “It’s late. It’s late.  We gotta get home it’s late!” I started singing. (Here are some of the actual song lyrics from the song It’s Late (by Rick Nelson)

It’s late (it’s late)
We gotta get on home
It’s late (it’s late)
We’ve been gone too long
Too bad (too bad)
We shoulda checked our time
Can’t phone (can’t phone)
We done spent ev’ry dime
It’s late (it’s late)
We’re ’bout to run outta gas
It’s late (it’s late)
We gotta get home fast
Can’t speed (can’t speed)
We’re in a slow-down zone
Baby, look at that clock, why can’t it be wrong?

So as you can see, I just find every opportunity to quote or sing songs. I guess music is just found everywhere in my life and I don’t mind sharing it with you! Hope you’ve found some enjoyment in my songs of the day and maybe you’ve found some new favorite songs. As I’ve said, either here or in person countless times, I love music from the 1950s through the 1990s (that’s not to say I don’t like some music from later or earlier periods, but those are generally my favorites). 😀

God bless!

About Christy

I enjoy: my family, my faith life, photography, drawing; writing, working on cars, basketball, football, and baseball. These are just a few of the many things I'll just have to read my blog to know me better to know more of them. Other things you may not catch on that I enjoy are: cats, angels, ballroom dancing, Christian music, camping (being one with nature and all of God's creations), traveling, cherry and apple blossoms, and the colors blue (in all shades), white, black, dark purple, and SOME shades of pink. (Rainbows are cool, too. And I'm NOT a lesbian! Although, I'm friends with some gays and lesbians as well as a few transgenders.) I am Roman Catholic. I graduated from Johnson County Community College, where I majored in Animation in hopes of fulfilling my dreams of being a computer generated animation movie maker. I also have a degree in Corporate Communication from Avila University. I'm currently employed at Nestle Toll House/Haagen-Dazs (at Oak Park Mall in Overland Park), I own my own business -- C & S Productions, L.L.C. (check it out at, and am single.
